The iPad isn’t my device, it’s there for anyone who wants to use it. Even Apple says so, so it must be true:

[The iPad] encourages physical collaboration and sharing with others…

Just one problem though…

If I use it to access my email, my browser bookmarks, my music, my books, my stuff, then everyone who picks up the device also has access to all this stuff.

What happens if they start reading a book that I’m part-way through? The next time I start reading I’ll have to hunt around for where I’d got to. But it could be more serious, what if I’ve bought a present and the email confirmation is in my inbox? There goes the surprise. And there are many other scenarios where sharing this device would be a problem.

The bottom line is that the iPad needs multi-user support, hopefully it will come with iOS4, until then it’s myPad.
